My Great Great Grandmother Harriet Dyson
Harriet Dyson was baptised at the Parish Church of St Mary Magdalene, Croome D’Abitot Worcestershire on 26 November 1821, the daughter of Joseph Dyson and Elizabeth Drinkwater.
There has been a church at Croome since 1283, and the Coventry family have owned the estate since 1592. The current church was built in 1758, the exterior designed by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown and the interior by Robert Adam.
Harriet had the following siblings; Joice, baptised 8 March 1820, Mary Anne, baptised 11 December 1823, Sarah, baptised 29 January 1826, Anne, baptised 7 December 1828, Eliza, baptised 19 September 1830, Martha, baptised 27 November 1831, William, baptised 11 May 1833, and Elizabeth, baptised 12 August 1838, all baptisms being at Croome D’Abitot
My enquiries have established the following facts regarding Harriet’ siblings;
Joice Dyson married William Jeans at Earls Croome
on 7th November 1842 and produced two daughters, Caroline born 1846 and Sarah born 1848, both of whom where residing with their grandfather at High Green in 1851. By this time Joice was a widow and appears in the 1851 Census as a House servant aged 29 years residing at Holly Beds, Earles Croome, in the household of George Horton, farmer of 180 acres.
