Their fourth child, Geoffrey William was born on 27 December 1912 at 13 High Street Acton.. Following the families move to Brighton he attended the Grammar School and became Head Boy. He unfortunately died at the age of 21 years, again of Tuberculosis on 23 December 1943, whilst employed as a Clerk for London County Council.
When William left Kew Gardens he moved to Barrowfield Nursery Lower Edmonton where he was responsible for rare ferns and house plants. A copy of his testimonial on leaving in October 1913 is shown later.
He then went into business with Edith’ adopted father, Joseph Frederick Hawes, trading and living at 13 High Street, Acton as Priory Farm Dairy. He remained in this occupation until 1916 when as the result of Edith’ poor health, again suffering from tuberculosis, on medical advice moved to 4 Cleveland Road Brighton
