I have a brother and sister, David Michael was born on 24 February 1945 and Barbara Dorcas Ann, born on 20 February 1948.
I attended a nursery school in Hythe Road Brighton, all I can remember is that I wore a mauve blazer. After about twelve months I attended Hertford Road Primary School. Much of my early schooling was disrupted by regular visits to hospital
I fell in the classroom and hit my head on a desk which resulted in a mastoid operation. Not satisfied with that I had two further mastoid operations before the age of 9 years. One I recall started during a joint stay in hospital with my brother for tonsillectomy. I tried to convince the Doctor there was nothing wrong with me, but my brother went home and I stayed put. What a worry I must have been for my parents.
