However John was buried on 13th October 1761 at Kempsey and as a result his wife Ann Dyson became subject of two examinations by Justices of the Peace.

The first taken on 27th March 1761 which states;

“County of Worcester

The Examination of Ann Dyson widow touching on the place of the last legal settlement taken upon oath the 27th day of March 1761 before his Majesties Justices of the Peace for the said County who upon her oath says;

That she is the widow of John Dyson, cordwainer deceased and that she hath heard her said husband say in his lifetime that he was put out apprentice by indentures for seven years to one William Hancock of the Borough of Stratford upon Avon in the County of Warwick, cordwainer. And that her said husband served his said master several years under the said Indentures in the said Borough and that the said master failed and then gave her said husband up his Indentures. And further saith that she has believed and heard her said husband say that he never did any act whereby to gain any legal settlement in his apprenticeship with the said William Hancock in the Borough and Parish of Stratford upon Avon aforesaid. Also saith that about fourteen years ago as near as this examinant can remember her said husband had a certificate from the said Borough and Parish of Stratford upon Avon aforesaid acknowledging him to be settled there and that  she the examinant has reason to believe that the said certificate is lost.
