Notes

  • Will of William Dyson of Feckenham Wor dated 1727 Proved 1732

In the name of God Amen, I William Dyson of the Parish of Feckenham Wor in the County of Worcester, Yeoman, being of old age but of sound mind and memory, I do make my last will and testament as followeth: First, I principally and humbly commend my soul to Almighty God, and my body to be buried at the discretion of my executors after named. I dispose of my estate as followeth. I give and bequeath to Anne, my loving wife, all my messuage wherein I now dwell, situate being near unto Ham Green, in the Parish of Feckenham Wor, with all barns, outhouses, building and any orchards, crofts, lands, hereditances and premises, with the appertenances thereto belonging, for and during her natural life, if she so long continue a widow. If she shall remarry, I give and bequeath the aforesaid messuage, barns etc., to my eldest son Joseph Dyson and to his heirs and assigns for ever provided that the said Joseph Dyson, his heirs and assigns pay my son John Dyson, his heirs and assigns the just sum of £25 of lawful money of Great Britain at or before the end of two years next ensuing my decease as the legacy and gift of me, the said William Dyson. And likewise I give unto my granddaughter Anne Dyson, the daughter of my son John Dyson the sum of £10, of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to her when she shall arrive at the age of 20 years. And in case my granddaughter should die before the age of 20 years, then my will is that my son Joseph Dyson shall pay the £10 to my son John Dyson.

My will is that Anne, my wife, shall have all my household goods, cattle, chattels and personal estate whatsoever, for and during the term of her natural life if she shall so continue a widow, and from after her marriage or decease I give all my household goods etc. To my two sons Joseph and John equally divided betwixt them, and I do make and appoint my two sons joint executors of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all other wills before by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seal this 30th day of September in the first year of the reign of His Majesty King George II of Great Britain 1727.
