    BRT 8/198 77 19th October 1767 Apprenticeship Elizabeth Dyson apprentice to Thomas Owen Female Husbandry of Kempsey

    This Indenture made on 19th day of October in the seventh year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George III by the grace of God of Great Britain, France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith and so forth and in the year of our Lord 1767, Witnesseth that Richard Lord and William Jones Churchwardens of the Parish of the Borough of Stratford upon Avon, in the County of Warwick and Nathanial Cookes, Richard Allen, Samuel Heritage and Thomas Sheldon, Overseers of the Poor of the said Borough by and with consent of his Majesties Justices of the Peace of the said Borough whose names are hereunto subscribed, have put and placed, and by these presents do put and place Elizabeth DYSON, a poor child of the said Parish, Apprentice to Thomas OWEN, of the Parish of Kempsey in the County of Worcestershire, Husbandman, with him to dwell and serve from the date of these presents until the said Apprentice shall accomplish his full age of twenty one years or the time of her marriage which shall first happen according to statute in that case made and provided. During which term the said Apprentice her said Master faithfully shall serve in all lawful business according to her power, wit, and ability and honesty, orderly and obediently in all things demean and behave herself towards her said Master and all his during the said term. And the said Thomas OWEN for himself his executors and administrators and their and every of their successors, for the time being by their presents, that the said Elizabeth DYSON the said Apprentice he the said Thomas OWEN shall instruct (or cause to be instructed) in the art and occupation of husbandry pertaining to a woman. And shall and will during all the term aforesaid, find, provide, and allow unto the said apprentice meet, competent and sufficient meat, drink and apparel, lodging, washing and all other things necessary and fit for an Apprentice. And also shall and so will provide for the said Apprentice that she be not any way charge to the said Parish or Parishioners of the same: but of and from all charge shall and will save the said Parish and Parishioners harmless and indemnified during the said term. And at the end of the said term, shall and will mark, provide allow and deliver unto the said Apprentice double apparel of all sorts good and new (that is to say) a good new suit for Holy Days and another for working days. In witness whereof, the parties above said to the present indentures interchangeably have and put their hands and seal the day above written.
